Build a passport for household and energy-related appliances
Energy labelling, EPREL and spare parts for white goods, heating and cooling appliances.
DPP Shield editorial team · Updated:
Large and energy-related appliances already fall under energy labelling and EPREL registration (Regulation (EU) 2017/1369) and their product-specific ecodesign rules. DPP Shield's appliance pack checks EPREL registration and flags the energy class and spare-parts availability.
What applies today
Products covered by an energy label must be registered in EPREL before they are placed on the market and show their energy efficiency class. Product-specific ecodesign regulations - carried over into the ESPR framework - set requirements such as spare-parts availability and repair information; verify the act for your appliance type and its dates.
What the pack checks
DPP Shield validates a passport against the bundled EU-APPLIANCES pack, which is a draft readiness pack, plus the ESPR core checks every category shares: identifiers, the economic operator, the data carrier, substances of concern and passport availability. Required findings block publication; findings to check are flagged for review. Each finding in the console names its rule and source.
Required - blocks publication
- EPREL registration for products covered by an energy label.
What it flags for review
These do not block publication, but resolve each one before the passport goes public.
Check - flagged for review
- Manufacturer identity.
- The energy efficiency class shown on the label.
- How long spare parts remain available after the last unit is placed on the market.
Evidence to collect
Attach these in Documents and link them to the passport, or request them from suppliers.
Typical evidence
- The EPREL registration number and the energy label.
- Product information sheet values: annual energy, water per cycle, noise.
- The spare-parts and repair-information policy.
- A repairability index or score where one applies.
Build the passport step by step
- Create the product with the category Appliances - in Products, by CSV import or from a connected store.
- Open DPPs and choose Create passport: the form shows the appliances fields together with the shared blocks (identifiers, manufacturer, materials, substances of concern, data carrier and passport availability).
- Record the appliance type; the product-specific rules depend on it.
- Copy energy, water and noise values exactly as registered in EPREL.
- Record spare-parts availability and repair information together.
- Attach the evidence in Documents and send supplier requests for anything you cannot support yourself.
- Run Validate EU and work through the findings until no required finding is left.
- Preview the public page, redact commercially sensitive fields, then publish.
Before you publish
Because the bundled packs are drafts, publishing needs an accountable override approved by a second owner or administrator until your platform operator activates a legally reviewed pack. The readiness score is not a legal assessment: confirm the obligations that apply to your product with your compliance adviser.
Map your product to its specific ecodesign and energy-label acts before relying on the pack: it covers the shared data, not every product-specific requirement.
