Digital Product Passport Guides by Country

Practical guides for manufacturers, exporters and online sellers preparing product data for EU Digital Product Passport rules, written for the market you sell from.

Whether you manage 1 product or 10,000, starting early lets you organize product data gradually instead of rebuilding everything when a deadline approaches. Passport duties arrive product group by product group, so each guide separates what already applies, what is expected and what you can prepare voluntarily.

How to use these guides

Each guide explains how the EU passport framework meets the realities of one market: its trade agreements with the EU, the sectors that export most, and the national rules that already require similar data.

Every guide was checked against official sources on the date shown on the page. Product rules change, so confirm the text that applies to your product before you rely on it. DPP Shield helps you structure and publish product data; it does not give legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Does every product sold in the EU need a Digital Product Passport?

No. A passport is required only where a product-specific EU act says so. The battery passport applies from 18 February 2027 and the toy passport from 1 August 2030; other groups depend on ESPR delegated acts.

Do businesses outside the EU need to prepare?

If you sell into the EU, yes. The importer or authorised representative who handles your goods will need passport data from you once your product group is covered.

Why are there separate guides for each country?

The EU rules are the same, but trade agreements, export sectors, sales channels and national data rules differ. A factory in Vietnam and a brand in the United Kingdom start from different places.
