Battery Regulation

EU Battery Passport Software and Requirements

Prepare structured battery data, access tiers, evidence and a persistent data carrier for the 18 February 2027 passport milestone.

From 18 February 2027, each LMT battery, EV battery and industrial battery above 2 kWh placed on the EU market or put into service must have a battery passport. The passport combines model-level and battery-specific information with access rules set by the Batteries Regulation.

Which batteries need a passport?

Article 77 covers light-means-of-transport batteries, electric-vehicle batteries and industrial batteries with a capacity above 2 kWh. Check definitions, exclusions and transitional facts against the current consolidated Regulation for the product in question.

What information belongs in a battery passport?

Annex XIII separates public information from information limited to notified bodies, authorities and people with a legitimate interest. Teams therefore need both a data model and a deliberate access and redaction policy.

How can DPP Shield support preparation?

DPP Shield stores versioned passport data and evidence, applies review gates, supports item-level identifiers and carriers, and preserves the public release while updates are reviewed. The operator remains responsible for completeness, accuracy and legal scope.
