There is no single EU digital product passport deadline. The first binding date is 18 February 2027, when battery passports become mandatory under the Batteries Regulation. The EU DPP Registry has been live since 20 July 2026, and product groups such as textiles, iron and steel, furniture and tyres will follow through ESPR delegated acts that are not yet adopted.

When is the first DPP deadline?
The earliest binding date is 18 February 2027 for battery passports. From that date, each light-means-of-transport battery, electric-vehicle battery and industrial battery above 2 kWh placed on the EU market must carry a battery passport under Article 77 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. Confirm the categories, thresholds and exclusions against the consolidated Regulation for your product.
Which product groups come next?
The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation sets the framework, and its 2025-2030 working plan names the first priority groups, including textiles, iron and steel, furniture and tyres. Each group receives its own delegated act that fixes the data requirements and the application date. Until an act is adopted and published in the Official Journal, there is no fixed DPP date for that group.
How should a team prepare before dates are fixed?
Start with the product groups you sell and the batteries you place on the market, map the data and evidence you already hold, and keep identifiers and passport URLs persistent. Preparing the workflow early means you can publish a reviewed passport when the applicable date arrives, rather than reacting to it.
Frequently asked questions
Is there one EU DPP deadline?
No. Dates are set per product group by its own legislation or delegated act. The battery passport date of 18 February 2027 is the first binding one.
When is the textile DPP due?
No date is fixed yet. Textiles are a priority group in the ESPR 2025-2030 working plan, but the delegated act that would set the date has not been adopted.
Is the EU DPP Registry live?
Yes. The European Commission announced the operational Registry on 20 July 2026.
