Appliances digital product passport

Energy class, EPREL registration, consumption, spare-parts availability and repairability.

An appliance passport record should combine model identity, EPREL and energy information, materials, repairability, spare parts, software support and end-of-life data.

Regulatory position

Regulations and applicability

The rules below do different jobs. Some are enforceable sector requirements, some establish the DPP architecture, and some announce future product measures. Each card explains the distinction.

Current requirement01

Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 (Energy Labelling)

What it covers
The Energy Labelling Regulation establishes the EU framework for labels and product information for regulated energy-related products.
What it means for the record
Map label classes, measured values and product-information sheets from the approved model record and retain the applicable delegated regulation.
Current requirement02

European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL)

What it covers
EPREL is the official product registry used for models subject to EU energy-labelling requirements.
What it means for the record
Store the EPREL model reference and synchronize authoritative data rather than maintaining an untraceable duplicate.
Planned measure03

ESPR and Energy Labelling Working Plan 2025-2030

What it covers
The working plan carries forward product-specific ecodesign and energy-labelling work for multiple appliance groups.
What it means for the record
Design shared identity and evidence blocks, then activate only the requirements relevant to the exact appliance type.

Questions teams ask

Should EPREL data be copied manually?

Prefer a controlled mapping to the authoritative record where possible, with provenance and change history retained.

What data structure should a Appliances passport use?

Organize at least four governed blocks: Model, GTIN and EPREL references; Energy performance and resource use; Materials, substances and critical components; Repair, spare parts, software and end-of-life. Every value should retain its source, effective date, product level and review status.

Which evidence should support the Appliances passport?

The evidence file should cover Energy label and product information sheet; Ecodesign technical documentation; Repair and spare-part records; WEEE and supplier declarations. A public view can cite approved evidence without exposing restricted files or confidential data.
